Broumovsko si categorised as a highlands protected landscape area (CHKO). It has picture-postcard scenery with islands of wild nature. This living farming land is a source of the purest water which flows in the depths of the Policko basin.

Broumovsko is well-known for its natural beauty spots, of which the most significant are its two national nature reserves. The Adršpach-Teplice Rocks are at 17 km2 one of the biggest sets of rock formations in Central Europe. Together with the Broumov Walls, these areas are unique in terms of relief and climate and the flowers and fauna here are specific to the region. The ridges of the Ostaš mountains and the exceptionally rugged Křížová cesta in Adršpach were declared nature reserves in 1956. The Borek and Kočičí Rocks are natural monuments.

There are special regulations governing rock climbing in the PLA.

Over the whole of Broumovsko Protected Landscape Area it is forbidden to:

  • dispose of waste anywhere apart from places designated for that purpose by the environmental protection body,
  • camp or start fires anywhere apart from places designated for that purpose by the environmental protection body,
  • use or park a motor vehicle or caravan except on roads and local roads and places designated for that purpose by the environmental protection body,
  • run car or motorcycle races.

In the first and second zones of the Protected Landscape area it is also forbidden to:

  • run bicycle races except on roads and local roads and places designated for that purpose by the environmental protection body.

Over the whole of the national nature reservation it is forbidden to:

  • enter with or use any vehicle except for routes marked and permitted by the environmental protection body, except for those owning or renting land there,
  • undertake rock-climbing, paragliding, hang-gliding or cycling apart from on roads, local roads and places designated by the environmental protection body,
