Museum of the Náchod Region

Muzeum Náchodska is one of the oldest museums in the Czech Republic and guides visitors through the stories of the Kladské pomezí region across the centuries. It manages eight sites in four towns and villages of the region – Náchod, Hronov, Police nad Metují, and Dobrošov.

In the museum exhibitions you will encounter the history of the entire region, folk culture and religious traditions, traces of medieval colonisation, and notable figures connected mainly with Hronov (Alois Jirásek, the Čapek siblings, or Egon Hostovský). A powerful experience is also a visit to the Dobrošov Fortress, where you can learn more about Czechoslovak interwar fortifications and the lives of soldiers before the Second World War.

Muzeum Náchodska also offers a rich programme for the public and for schools. Temporary exhibitions, lectures, workshops, and educational programmes present the collection in both playful and expert ways. Families also enjoy themed “museum suitcases”, which let you discover regional history in an interactive form.
